It’s the beginning of a new cross country season and you all have decisions to make. What kind of runner will you be? What goals do you have for yourself? Are you willing to do what is necessary to reach your goals?
Now is the time to decide where you will be in November. Will you be five minutes faster than your preseason time trial? Will you be on Varsity? Will you be All Conference? All County? All State?
Most people don’t stumble across success accidentally. At some point in their careers, they make the decision to work toward a certain goal. I’ve never met a state champion who didn’t step on the line intending to win the race.
You might not always reach your goal…and you may suffer some set-backs along the way; however, you will be a better runner in the end. There’s an old saying….Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll find yourself among the stars.
So set your goals. Decide what kind of runner you will be and work hard to make it happen.
