Hi Everyone!
You made it through the first two weeks of Cross Country! With school starting on Monday, there's a lot of information to pass on to you, so please read until the end of this post.
Transportation to Practices and Meets
The school provides a bus to and from our practices and meets. The bus will drop students back off at Brandywine and parents pick up at the school. Parents may also pick up athletes from the park if that is easier; however, they must arrive before the bus departs. We will not leave any kids at the park. There are also Activity buses available once we arrive back at BHS. Click HERE for the bus stops. If athletes drive themselves to school, they are permitted to drive themselves and siblings to practice. All other athletes must be on the bus. For meets, all athletes are required to ride the bus. Please refer to previous post for information on purchasing State park passes.
Uniforms
We will be issuing a Uniform Top to every runner. Athletes will need to purchase a solid black pair of running shorts before our first meet. You can find them at Dicks, the Delaware Running Company, Marshalls, TJMAXX, or Kohls to name a few.
Regular meets vs. Invitationals
Our meet schedule is listed on Bulldog Sports. Click HERE to view our upcoming meets. For the small meets during the week, all athletes will participate. Some will be racing the full 5K; others will be running a modified shorter course until they are able to finish a 5K. For the bigger meets/Invitationals, we will not be entering athletes until they are able to complete the full distance of the race. We will be competing in four Invitationals this season: Unionville Two Mile Bash, Middletown Invitational, Salesianum Invitational, and the Joe O'Neill Invitational. Our season winds down with our three championship meets: The Blue Hen Conference Championships, The New Castle County Championships, and The DIAA State Championships.
COVID Protocol
All athletes must wear masks on buses to and from practices and meets. Masks must completely cover nose and mouth.
The BSD is following CDC protocols for Covid exposure.
If athlete is directly exposed to covid and are vaccinated- Individual does not have to quarantine, but must wear a mask indoors and get tested on Day 5(DPH is recommending day 5) After day 5, individual must still wear a mask when in the school building, but not necessarily in other settings outside of education. Provide the school nurse with documentation of vaccination record.
Click HERE for a more detailed explanation of BSD covid protocol.
B+ 5K: October 30, 2021
We will be participating in the B+ 5K again this year as part of our Community Service. We encourage all athletes to sign up and fundraise for this great cause fighting Childhood Cancer. The race is the day after our Blue Hen Conference Championships and we will be using this as a recovery run/walk. Our own Teyton Pressley is a B+ Hero. Click HERE to sign up to be a part of Team Teyton. If you are not familiar with the B+ Foundation, Click HERE to read about their mission.
