BHSXC Week Three

 Hi Everyone!

It was great to meet so many of you at our Back to School event!  For all our newcomers, see below for information on Sports Physicals.

You must have a current DIAA Sports Physical on file with the BHS nurse BEFORE you are able to practice with the team.  The physical must be dated after 4/1/24.     You can find the DIAA forms you need HERE

If you cannot get an appointment with your pediatrician quickly, many of the area Walk-In clinics are offering sports physicals.  Bring your DIAA paperwork with you when you go.  The folks at Go-Care Silverside are wonderful.

Go-Care Silverside Medical Aid 302-225-6868       $35 cash/credit - walk-ins welcome

You can find more clinics that are offering physicals on the Bulldog Sports Home Page.  Click HERE

If you have any questions, please email me:  michelleluceyflanagan@gmail.com or you can pop in to see Coach Siple in Room 125.  Her room is right near the cafeteria.

Summer Training Information

Happy Summer!

Hopefully all of you have started your summer training.  If not, lace up those sneaks and start today!  Click HERE for your summer mileage guide. If you hit Week 8 before August 12th, simply repeat that last week until preseason begins.

New Shoes:  Everyone should start their summer training in a new pair of running shoes.  I recommend the Delaware Running Company in Greenville.  They are staffed by runners, give a discount to high school athletes, and have the best return policy around.  If a new pair of shoes are not working for you in the first 30 days, they will replace them.  Click HERE for store information.

Running Watch: We would like every runner to purchase a running watch to be used in training.  It does NOT have to be a fancy one with GPS.  You only need the stopwatch function.  If you would like to invest in one with GPS features, that is fine too.  Below are two examples of running watches in each category.

Timex Ironman Watch

Garmin Smart Watches

Strength Training We would like every runner to incorporate some strength training into their summer routine.  Click HERE for a great article on how to get started.

State parks are great places to run in the summer.  Lots of trails and shade.  Please keep in mind that there is a fee to enter the parks.  The fee season runs through November so you may want to purchase a pass for your vehicle.  Click HERE for information or visit any park office.

The Captains will be organizing some runs this summer.  If you are new, please email me  your cell phone number and the captains will add you to their summer group text.

First Day of Practice:  Monday August 12th 8AM at Brandywine High school.  Check in at 7:45 with Mr. Schulke in the gym before heading out to the track.

Eligibility:  You must have a current DIAA Sports Physical on file with the BHS nurse BEFORE the first day of practice.  The physical must be dated after 4/1/24.   Bulldog Sports lists locations where you can get your physical.    You can also find the DIAA forms you need in the bottom left hand corner of the page.  Click HERE.  Please do not wait until August to schedule your physical.  You cannot practice without one.

Email me with any questions! That's All for Now!

Happy Running!!!!
