Some changes to our summer schedule

Hi Everyone!
Hope you are managing to stay cool during this heat wave!  It's best to get your runs in during the morning hours or in the evening.

Click HERE for some hot weather running tips.

Next week, the Monday workout  will go on as planned:

Monday Workouts at Brandywine H.S.
Arrival Time: 6pm
Workout starts at 6:30
BHS coaches do NOT run this workout.  A parent volunteer from Padua heads them up.  It's a great opportunity to learn how to pace yourself in a 5K.  This workout is open to all middle  and high school runners.

Wednesday July 3rd:  We will NOT be meeting for a group run at Bellevue.  Since the next day is a holiday, I imagine many families will be going out of town.

The following Wednesday, 7/10,  is the Ulster Project 5K:

If you’re not on vacation, I hope you can join us.

https://runsignup.com/Race/DE/Wilmington/UlsterProjectDelaware5K

It’s a nice course that runs along the Brandywine River. T-shirts to first 200 registrants. A great after party at Catherine Rooney’s with lots of food.

We will not be having a Bellevue Run this night so I hope to see you at the 5K instead!

A few other reminders:
*  You need a sports physical BEFORE the first day of practice.  Click HERE for Wellness Center Hours and link to the DIAA form.
*  For returning runners, please fulfill any obligations you may have BEFORE we start practice.

Thanks to Abbey and Maisie for showing up at our first Wednesday run!

Another 5K for a great cause

Hi Everyone!
See below for another opportunity to run a 5K and support the Brandywine School District:

For the past 5 months the students of the Joint Student Council have been organizing a District Wide Mental Health 5k and Expo. The Brandywine School District Joint Student Council is comprised of high school leaders in our three high schools. We are raising money for the start up of S.A.V.E. Clubs (Students Against Violence Everywhere)  in each school and for the Sandy Hook Promise foundation. The focus is on raising awareness of the importance of mental health is avoiding suicide, drug use, and violence as well as the importance of physical health. We will have food trucks, a numerous amount of booths, some that will be at the school health fair and celebrity speakers!

The race is Sunday, April 14th at 2pm at Mount Pleasant High School.

We encourage all of Brandywine's spring sports teams to register to run up as a team. Currently there are teams from Concord and Mount signed up. BEFORE April 11th, Student Registration is $15 dollars and Adult Registration is $20. To run as a team, I suggest the coaches or captains register first and under the "Team" and select "Yes, create a new team and add this registrant" and create a team name. The team members will be able to register and select " Yes, add this registrant to a team created by someone else". Registration is online so if a captain or a coach or a player is not able to pay online, there will be a table at lunches to register under cash payment next week until the 11th. Again, REGISTER ONLINE ONLY IF THEY HAVE A CREDIT CARD TO PAY ON.

The Link to register and gain more information is here
The Facebook page is here
.

Thank you so much and we all hope to see you on the 14th!

Reindeer Run

Hi Everyone!
I talked to the team a few weeks ago about the Reindeer Run on 11/30.  It benefits Special Olympics.  For the past few years, the XC team has been participating as part of our required service project for BHS.  This year I'm happy to report the school has set up a Team for the race.  Use the following link when you register.

BHS TEAM PAGE

Registration prices go up in a few days.  It's $25 right now;  prices jump to $30 on Monday and you won't be guaranteed a t-shirt.
